MINISTER OF HEALTH
HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
CLAUSE 1: [Vital Statistics Act, section 27]
1 Section 27 of the Vital Statistics Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 479, is amended
(a) in subsection (2) (c) by adding "in the case of a minor who is less than 12 years of age," before "a statement from one of the following persons", and
(b) in subsection (5) by striking out "A birth certificate" and substituting "Except as provided under section 36 (2) (d), a birth certificate".
CLAUSE 2: [Vital Statistics Act, section 36] provides that a person's birth certificate is not required to include the person's sex if the applicant for the certificate requests this.
2 Section 36 (2) (d) is repealed and the following substituted:
(d) the sex of the person, unless the applicant for the certificate requests, as part of the application under subsection (1), that the person's sex not be included; .
3 This Act comes into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
CLAUSE 1: [Vital Statistics Act, section 27]
CLAUSE 2: [Vital Statistics Act, section 36] provides that a person's birth certificate is not required to include the person's sex if the applicant for the certificate requests this.
