HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
SECTION 1: [Interpretation Act, section 26] removes the authority to prescribe periods in which a reference to time in British Columbia is a reference to Pacific Daylight Saving Time.
1 Section 26 of the Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 238, is repealed and the following substituted:
26 (1) In this section, "Pacific Time" means 7 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
(2) A reference to time in British Columbia is a reference to Pacific Time.
Consequential Amendments
Election Act
SECTION 2: [Election Act, section 56] removes a reference to Pacific Daylight Saving Time, consequential to amendments made by this Bill to the Interpretation Act.
2 Section 56 (3) of the Election Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 106, is amended by striking out "Pacific Standard Time or Pacific Daylight Saving Time, as applicable" and substituting "Pacific Time".
SECTION 3: [Election Act, section 75] removes a reference to Pacific Daylight Saving Time, consequential to amendments made by this Bill to the Interpretation Act.
3 Section 75 (3) is amended by striking out "Pacific Standard Time or Pacific Daylight Saving Time, as applicable," and substituting "Pacific Time".
SECTION 4: [Election Act, Form 1 of the Schedule] removes references to time made redundant by amendments made by this Bill to the Interpretation Act.
4 Form 1 of the Schedule is amended by striking out "[Pacific Standard Time] [Pacific Daylight Saving Time]" wherever it appears and substituting "Pacific Time".
Vancouver Charter
SECTION 5: [Vancouver Charter, section 194] removes the authority to prescribe periods in which time in Vancouver will be seven hours behind Greenwich Mean Time and removes the authority to vary the reckoning of Pacific Standard Time, consequential to amendments made by this Bill to the Interpretation Act.
5 Section 194 of the Vancouver Charter, S.B.C. 1953, c. 55, is repealed.
6 This Act comes into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

SECTION 4: [Election Act, Form 1 of the Schedule] removes references to time made redundant by amendments made by this Bill to the Interpretation Act.
