STRATEGY AND MULTICULTURALISM
This Bill repeals some provisions enacted in the late 1800s and early 1900s that discriminate against some ethnic groups.
HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
1 The following provisions, if not previously repealed, are repealed:
(a) section 12 of An Act granting to John Adair, Junior, and Joseph Hunter, the right to erect a dam at the outlet of the Quesnelle Lake, and to mine the bed of the South Fork River and other lands, S.B.C. 1881, c. 19;
(b) section 4 of An Act respecting a Subsidy for a Railway from Victoria to North Saanich, S.B.C. 1886, c. 16;
(c) sections 27 to 30 of An Act to incorporate the Vancouver Electric Light Company, S.B.C. 1886, c. 25;
(d) sections 8 and 11 to 15 of An Act granting to T.B.H. Cochrane and James Brady a Lease of a portion of the bed of Findlay Creek and Lands contiguous thereto, for Mining purposes, S.B.C. 1886, c. 26;
(e) sections 16 to 20 of An Act to Incorporate the Vancouver Gas Company, and for other purposes, S.B.C. 1886, c. 27;
(f) sections 10 to 13 of An Act to amend the Act Incorporating the "New Westminster and Port Moody Telephone Company, Limited", S.B.C. 1886, c. 30;
(g) sections 16 to 20 of An Act to Incorporate the Vancouver Street Railways Company, S.B.C. 1886, c. 31;
(h) sections 27 to 30 of An Act to incorporate the New Westminster Electric Light and Motor Power Company, S.B.C. 1890, c. 50;
(i) section 6 of An Act to authorize the granting of a licence to prospect for Gold over certain Lands in the Cariboo District, with a Contingent Lease for a portion of the said Lands, S.B.C. 1895, c. 57;
(j) section 4 of An Act respecting Lightning Creek Gold Gravels and Drainage Company, S.B.C. 1896, c. 56;
(k) section 30 of An Act to confirm an agreement between Her Majesty in right of Her Province of British Columbia and Frank Owen and William John Stokes, and to incorporate the Cariboo-Omineca Chartered Company, S.B.C. 1898, c. 10;
(l) section 7 of An Act to amend the "British Columbia Public Works Loan Act, 1897", S.B.C. 1898, c. 30;
(m) section 17 of An Act to Incorporate "The British Columbia Great Gold Gravels Dredge-Mining Corporation", S.B.C. 1898, c. 48;
(n) section 34 of An Act to Incorporate the "Red Mountain Tunnel Company, Limited", S.B.C. 1898, c. 60;
(o) section 39 of An Act to Incorporate the "Big Bend Transportation Company, Limited", S.B.C. 1899, c. 81;
(p) section 31 of An Act to Incorporate the Pine Creek Flume Company, Limited, S.B.C. 1899, c. 87;
(q) paragraphs 15 and 18 of Agreement B in the Schedule to An Act ratifying certain Agreements respecting False Creek, Vancouver, S.B.C. 1911, c. 55;
(r) article 37 of the Schedule to An Act to ratify a certain Agreement between the City of Vancouver and the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company and the Canadian Northern Railway Company, S.B.C. 1913, c. 76;
(s) section 3 of Schedule A of By-law No. 1165 and paragraph 3 of Schedule A of By-law No. 1171 in An Act respecting the Corporation of the City of New Westminster, S.B.C. 1930, c. 52.
2 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.
