No. 96 — Tuesday, October 31, 2023 — 1.30 p.m.
1 Mr. Olsen to ask the Hon. Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General the following questions: —
1. The RCMP’s Community-Industry Response Group (C‑IRG) pulls resources from local detachments from across British Columbia. Can the Minister provide a detailed breakdown of its understanding of both the financial resources, personnel and other resources that have been diverted from local detachments and other branches of police?
2. A member of the public pursued a freedom-of-information request with the RCMP and was told that they could not receive budgets of the C‑IRG because “The C‑IRG falls under a larger section which does budget reporting, but the C‑IRG itself does not have its own separate budget, nor do its own budget reporting.” Can the Minister provide a) his understanding of the structure of C‑IRG; b) the sections it falls under; c) the budgets it falls under; and, d) a breakdown of how much funding is allocated to units connected to C‑IRG?
3. What is the role of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General in directing, overseeing and/or managing operations of C‑IRG?
