SUBJECT

Subject headings are based on the Library of Congress subject headings list, with minor modifications.
“See” refers the user to the index term:
Doctors
See: Physicians
“See also” refers the user to related subjects:
Taxation
See also names of taxes, e.g. Income tax; Sales tax

House business entries include:

All bills introduced during the session are listed in numerical order under “Bills, Legislative” as well as in a separate alphabetical list near the front of the book.

Estimates are listed according to name of ministry or name of legislative officer (e.g. Auditor-general).

 
FILING

Acronyms (e.g. SPEC) and proper names beginning with initials (e.g. W.A.C. Bennett Dam) are filed at the beginning of each letter.

Numbers and abbreviations are filed as if spelled out in full.

Subject entries, if subdivided into separate categories, are filed as in the following

EXAMPLE:

Canada. National Defence, Department of
Canada, Northern
Canada Assistance Plan

 

Names beginning with Mc are filed as if the prefix were spelled Mac,

EXAMPLE:
