The House met at 10:01 a.m.
[The Speaker in the chair.]
Prayers and reflections: Kiel Giddens.
The Speaker: Members, first of all, thank you so much, member for Prince George–Mackenzie, for leading the House in prayer, remembering those who never came back home, going to work, and those who are injured and have never recovered from those injuries.
Violent Incident at
Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver
The Speaker: At the same time, I want to talk about the tragedy that happened on Saturday.
Thousands of people were there, got together, enjoying their day, celebrating culture, celebrating their traditions, human rights, freedom, everything. Many of us were there during the day.
And then that tragedy happened in the evening. We have to be strong. We have to reach out to those families, victims, their loved ones to make sure they understand that they are not alone. We’ll be with them. We’ll do everything that we can do to support them.
I request all the members rise in a moment of silence, remembering all of them.
[The House observed a moment of silence.]
[That, notwithstanding Standing Order 2 (1), the House stand adjourned until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.]
Hon. Mike Farnworth moved adjournment of the House.
Motion approved.
The Speaker: This House stands adjourned until 10 a.m. tomorrow.
The House adjourned at 10:05 a.m.
