Deliberations
B. D’Eith (Chair): If I could I have a motion to go in camera, please.
Motion approved.
The committee continued in camera from 8:20 a.m. to 9:39 a.m.
[B. D’Eith in the chair.]
B. D’Eith (Chair): I just wanted to say we’re back, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.
Firstly, I just wanted to thank everyone on the committee for amazing work. You did a wonderful job. We had a big tour, and we’ve been working very hard on this.
I also wanted to thank Hansard, everyone from Hansard, who have worked very hard; and of course, Nicki, Karan and Jennifer for all of your amazing work, and the research team.
I don’t know if anyone wanted to add to that.
S. Cadieux: I’ll just echo on behalf of our committee members: thanks for all the hard work for all the staff, in coordinating our efforts and pulling all of our thoughts together so succinctly; and to you, Chair, for guiding the process, because it’s an extra burden. Thank you very much.
B. D’Eith (Chair): Thanks, Stephanie.
N. Simons: Can I just say that I really appreciate the fact that we were able to work in a very cooperative and collaborative way, even though I probably “p” you off once in a while. I think they were healthy discussions that we had. We had a good opportunity to figure out where we’re all coming from on issues, and I think that’s always a good thing. We heard some very interesting presentations around the province, and it was an honour to be a part of this committee.
I thank you, Chair, for your work.
B. D’Eith (Chair): Thanks, Nicholas.
S. Furstenau: Also, heroic work on Hansard’s part. Thank you.
B. D’Eith (Chair): Absolutely.
Okay, we have two motions.
Committee Report to the House
BUDGET CONSULTATION REPORT
R. Leonard: I move:
[That the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services approve and adopt the report on the Budget 2019 Consultation as amended today and further, that the Committee authorize the Chair and Deputy Chair to work with committee staff to finalize any further editorial changes to complete the supporting text.]
Motion approved.
T. Redies: I move:
[That the Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services present the Committee’s report to the Legislative Assembly at the earliest available opportunity.]
Motion approved.
B. D’Eith (Chair): Thank you very much everyone.
Motion to adjourn.
Motion approved.
The committee adjourned at 9:42 a.m.
