Committee Report to the House
M. Farnworth (Deputy Chair): I move that the committee approve and adopt the Budget 2014 consultation report as amended today and further, that the committee authorize the Chair and Deputy Chair to work with committee staff to finalize any minor editorial changes to complete the supporting text.
I move that the Chair deposit a copy of the report with the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly and further, that upon resumption of the sittings of the House, or at the next following session, the Chair shall present the report to the Legislative Assembly at the earliest available opportunity.
D. Ashton (Chair): Any discussion on that motion? Any other thoughts?
Motions approved.
D. Ashton (Chair): Carried unanimously.
Anything else while we're in public?
Well, I just want to thank each and every one of you. I wish our other two members were here today, but they are both away with something. So an incredible learning process for myself. It was an absolute delight working with each and every one of you.
Mike, specifically yourself — thank you again for your guidance and your help in a lot of things here. It was really appreciated. Really appreciated. So thank you.
Any other discussion?
J. Tegart: I'd just like to say thank you to the Chair. The process has worked very well, and also it's been a pleasure getting to know the staff.
D. Ashton (Chair): Thank you for that, and also staff. My thanks to the staff — not only those that are here; those that aren't here today. Again, to those behind us, the Hansard group that have done a really good job for us.
In a world of partisan politics, a bipartisan committee like this does make a huge difference and shows that we all can work together for a common goal, especially for the people we all represent. So I just want to thank each and every one of you again.
M. Farnworth (Deputy Chair): This is the side that you wish more people outside saw, because there's lots of good work that does get done.
D. Ashton (Chair): Yes. Absolutely. Good point, Mike.
E. Foster: The unfortunate part is that most of it is in camera, and we can't publish it.
D. Ashton (Chair): But you can always say it worked really well together mutually.
E. Foster: We can say that — yeah.
S. Hamilton: I think the fact that we're out of here right now, instead of grinding again tomorrow, is a testament right there.
D. Ashton (Chair): Is there a motion to adjourn? Any other discussion?
Motion approved.
D. Ashton (Chair): Carried unanimously.
Thanks again, everybody.
The committee adjourned at 10:49 a.m.
